The Candle Apothecary began with a simple frustration: we loved the ritual and atmosphere of lighting a candle, but struggled to find fragrances we genuinely wanted to burn at home.

Too many were overly sweet or floral. We were looking for something deeper, darker and a little less predictable.

So we stopped searching and began creating our own.

What started as a search for the right scent became a New Zealand business built around distinctive home fragrances. We create candles and diffusers designed to change the feeling of a room, spark memories and bring a little atmosphere to everyday spaces.

Our fragrances are developed in layers, combining complementary scent oils to create blends with warmth, depth and character. From smoke, wood and leather to tobacco, spice, amber and brighter aromatic notes, every fragrance has its own personality.

Every candle is blended and made in New Zealand in small batches, allowing us to focus on consistency, fragrance balance and performance. We use soy wax with pure cotton and braided-paper wicks. Our candles are paraffin-free, and the fragrance oils we use are phthalate-free and have not been tested on animals.
